Healing, Truth, and What I’ve Learned
Healing Isn’t Instant — What Living with Hashimoto’s Has Taught Me
Getting a diagnosis didn’t fix everything overnight.
But it gave me direction.
I started on a natural thyroid medication and hormone replacement therapy after discovering my testosterone levels were depleted.
I was already eating clean, but I went deeper—taking a food sensitivity test and removing irritants that were adding stress to my body.
I also introduced something I had never truly prioritized before:
Stillness.
Meditation became part of my daily routine. And over time, as my levels started improving, my sleep did too.
The biggest factor in my healing?
Having a doctor who actually guided me.
But I’ll be honest—this process has not been quick.
Healing, especially after being out of balance for so long, is slow.
There are still moments of discouragement. There are still setbacks. Sometimes the changes are so subtle that you don’t notice them until you look back.
And I’ve learned that not everything works for everyone. For me, completely eliminating gluten was overhyped. I do limit it, but it wasn’t the breakthrough I expected.
What I have learned is this:
The body is incredibly resilient.
When you support it, it will work with you—not against you.
And more than anything…
You have to advocate for yourself.
There are so many women being told they are “fine” when they know something isn’t right.
If that’s you—keep asking questions.
Do not ignore your body.
Because you cannot take care of your people if you are not okay yourself.
My faith has carried me through this journey. Through prayer, stillness, and trust, I found peace even when I didn’t have answers.
And while I’m still on this journey, I’m no longer walking it blindly.
I’m walking it with understanding, awareness… and hope.
After finally receiving answers, I realized diagnosis was only the beginning.
Healing wasn’t just about prescriptions or lab numbers—it was about the small choices I made every day. What I ate, how I reduced stress, what ingredients I brought into my home, and learning how to support my body in realistic ways.
Along the way, I wished there was one place that made healthy living feel simpler and less overwhelming.
That’s why I created two spaces that would have helped me during my own journey:
🌿 Unprocessed Scoop — where I share newsletters, wellness insights, ingredient awareness, and encouragement for women learning to advocate for their health.
🍽️ Unprocessed Table — where I share simple meals, clean recipes, and practical ways to make nourishing food easier.
Because sometimes healing starts with answers… but it continues at the table.
